"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." - JAWAHARLAL NEHRU
Where do you want to go? What is stopping you from going there? Really, what is stopping you? People have a million excuses why they can't go to this place or that place, but for the most part they are just excuses. Is it money that is holding you back? Think about all of the everyday things you could cut out or cut back on to save the money to travel. Is it better to get take out 2 nights a week because you are too tired from work to cook or is it better to save that money towards that trip to Costa Rica? Which will be more rewarding in the end?
Are you not traveling because of time? Reebok recently released a 1 minute commercial (or film as they call it) titled, "25,915 Days." The title refers to what is considered the average number of days in a human life. The commercial is actually pretty powerful. When you think that you only have 25,915 days to enjoy on this earth, don't you think you take some of that time to see the world? You don't want to get to day 25,914 and think "I should have...."
The world is out there waiting for you to see it. Find a way to make that happen!
This is not going to be a post telling you where you should go and why you should go there, instead it is meant to inspire you to create your own travel bucket list. Many travel experts are against travel bucket lists, which at first seems like it is opposite to what you should expect. Most travel experts, who are opposed to travel bucket lists, think that people get to attached to the idea of a specific end location and end up missing out on the journey. And let’s be honest, the journey of travel is what travel is really about. You may want to visit the Great Wall of China, but the memories/ images of the Great Wall of China are not all you should take away from that trip- you should experience the culture, weather, smells, food, people, etc.
As long as you soak up the entire journey and don’t forego opportunities that arise along the path, make that travel bucket list! It can be a great way to guide your decisions on travel plans. I made my first travel bucket list a few years ago, and I am still working at reaching all of the destinations- but I am also still adding destinations to the list. Will I ever reach every place on my list? Probably not because no matter how many places I go, I always seem to find more places that I want to go.
10 Reasons to Visit Jamaica
1. Jamaica is home to many beautiful beaches.
2. The residents of Jamaica are wonderful, friendly people. This is one of the great entertainment staff members from Sandals Ochi Beach.
3. Jamaica is home to many fabulous all-inclusive resorts, including Sandals Whitehouse in the picture below.
4. JERK CHICKEN- yum!
5. The weather in Jamaica is usually warm/hot with the cooler months being from December to April.
6. There are lots of activities to do in Jamaica (ziplining, snorkeling, scuba diving, river tubing, swimming with dolphins, Jamaican bobsledding….the list goes on and on.
7. The atmosphere of Jamaica is very laid back. You will hear the term "island time" a lot which means it will happen when it happens- not exactly when the clock says it will.
8. Jamaica is home to Blue Mountain Coffee which is a real treat for the coffee lovers.
9. The cost to travel to Jamaica is fairly reasonable from the Midwest.
10. Appleton Rum is made in Jamaica and is delicious! And of course we can't forget the tasty Red Stripe Beer.
Las Vegas or Atlantic City are probably the first places that come to mind when you think about gambling, but there are some fabulous casinos all over the world. Although most people don’t travel around the globe just to go to a casino, most would make it a pitstop if they were traveling near one of the best casinos in the world. There are a few I would love to visit if I ever get the chance.
Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, Monaco would be really high on my list as a casino destination. It is famous for several reasons, but the one the really captures me is it’s connection to James Bond. The Hotel de Paris is famous for being in the first James Bond novel “Casino Royale”.

Even China has their own version of Las Vegas. Macao, China is the Las Vegas of the East. There are even similar resorts in both locations. Both cities have a Wynn property, a Venetian, Sands, and an MGM Grand. The hotels even look a little similar in both locations. If I was a big gambler, Macao would be near the top of my vacation destinations list.
The Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is another interesting gambling location.. The building is incredible. To me, it looks like three clothespins with a oval plate balancing on top. What is really amazing is discovering that the top of the building (which I said looked like an oval plate) is actually the home of the infinity pool...yes, on the 55th floor of the hotel. I don’t think I could swim to the edge of it, but I am sure the views of Singapore are amazing from the pool or pool deck in the evening.
And finally, another casino I hope to visit someday is the Casino de Ibiza in the Ibiza Gran Hotel, Ibiza, Spain. This place is supposed to be a happening place for the rich and the famous, but I have read that it is a small casino. Ibiza Town is known for its nightlife, and that is probably what draws the crowd. I think the setting of Ibiza is enough to keep it on my list.
Don’t let your special dietary restrictions or allergies keep you from a great vacation. Did you know that Sandals Resorts offer a private consultation with their Culinary Concierge? Not only can you meet with a Culinary Concierge, but you can also meet with the Executive Chefs. These experts will help work with you to plan out your dining experiences while staying at Sandals Resorts. They can create custom menus to accommodate your dietary restriction or your food allergies. They can plan out your meals for the week or they can help you day by day.
They even have separate preparation areas and separate kitchens for severe food allergies. This is to avoid any possible cross-contamination of food. They want all of their guests to enjoy wonderful food in a safe manner. It is all part of what sets Sandals Resorts apart from most other resorts.
As a travel agent, I can notify Sandals before your arrival of any food issues. This helps streamline the process of meeting with the Culinary Concierge, so you can begin enjoying food immediately.
Most guests will notice whenever they are seated at any restaurant on Sandals property, they are asked about any food allergies. This helps ensure that all staff are aware of which guests require special food attention. So don’t let your food allergies or dietary restrictions keep you from taking a wonderful vacation. You deserve it!
Do you ever find yourself loving a hotel featured in a movie? I have found myself longing to visit many hotels that have been the setting for famous movies. Here are a few hotel/resorts that I have seen in a movie and made their way to my travel bucket list...I have managed to visit a few, but I will still be traveling until I have seen all of them.
Next time you are at the movies, pay attention to the beautiful settings and you might just find your next vacation location.
